Spindustry team participates in United Way's Day of Caring
Again this year a number of Spindustry employees participated in United Way's Day of Caring by spending time in a small elementary school in Des Moines, Iowa, reading with third grade students. The Read to Learn program is designed to help kids at this specific age work on their reading skills. Studies show that the fourth grade is the critical point at which those who cannot read well begin to dramatically fall behind. The goal of this program is to encourage third graders to work hard on their reading skills so they are prepared to succeed as they move ahead in school.
"As in the past, I think our group got as much value out of the experience as the kids did," commented Ben Johns, Spindustry Interactive Designer and internal organizer of the event.
Rather than limit this activity to one day this year, a number of Spindustry's team members have been motivated to mentor children throughout this school year.
