Course Description:

This 3 Hour course is designed to be a quick guide to Best Practices for your new or existing SharePoint 2010, SharePoint 2013, SharePoint 2016, or SharePoint Online environment. It provides your team with knowledge that is vital to creating and maintaining a stable and usable SharePoint environment.

Course Outline:

This course is designed for organizations that choose to forego formal Governance planning for their new or existing SharePoint environment. It is designed to provide organizations with valuable knowledge around critical areas of SharePoint as they pertain to the lifespan of a traditional SharePoint environment.
At the end of this session, attendees will have an informed understanding of the following critical areas within SharePoint:

  • SharePoint's Architecture. Understanding how SharePoint is designed to work is crucial to ensuring that your data/documents are properly secured, sufficiently siloed, and easily manageable. Understanding what the risk are and how to mitigate these risk is the focus of this topic.
  • Logical Design. The logical design of your SharePoint site collections and sites has a great impact on the usability and manageability of the environment. Having a logical design that will meet today's needs as well as long term future needs is vital to a successful SharePoint experience.
  • Content Management. Understanding how content is managed, who can manage it, when it can be managed is important to the success of your SharePoint endeavor. It must be user friendly, but it must also be governed. Balancing this directly effects the organization and the end-user.
  • Document Management. An understanding of how Documents are managed in SharePoint will lead your team to determine best practices that meet the organizations needs as well as the end-user needs.
  • Training: It is not only important to have a plan to train your users, but it is important to know what types/roles of users to train, when to training them, and what to train them. This is a critical part of end-user acceptance.
