Course Description:

This 5-day instructor led course provides students with the technical skills required to write basic Transact-SQL queries for Microsoft SQL Server 2014. This course is the foundation for all SQL Server-related disciplines; namely, Database Administration, Database Development and Business Intelligence. The main purpose of the course is to prepare people for the exam "70-461: Writing Queries Using Microsoft® SQL Server® 2014 Transact-SQL." This exam will be the underlying exam for all SQL Server-related disciplines; namely, Database Administration, Database Development and Business Intelligence. As such, the primary target audience for this course is: Database Administrators, Database Developers and BI professionals..

Note: This course is designed for customers who are interested in learning SQL Server 2012 or SQL Server 2014. It covers the new features in SQL Server 2014, but also the important capabilities across the SQL Server data platform.

This course is intended for Database Administrators, Database Developers, and Business Intelligence professionals. The course will very likely be well attended by SQL power users who aren’t necessarily database-focused or plan on taking the exam; namely, report writers, business analysts and client application developers.

Prerequisites

Before attending this course, students must have:

  • Working knowledge of relational databases.
  • Basic knowledge of the Microsoft Windows operating system and its core functionality


Note: It is possible to take this course without having the qualifying upgradeable certification once the criteria of equivalent knowledge is met. However, subsequent taking and passing of the 70-417 upgrade exam will not provide the exam taker with the MCSA: Windows Server 2012 credential. This credential upgrade is exclusively for holder the holders of existing qualifying upgradeable certification, details of which are available in the URL listed above.

Module 1: Installing and Configuring Windows Server 2012

This module explains how to install and configure Windows Server 2012. It specifically covers requirements and considerations for installation and the installation of roles and installation types such as Server Core. It also covers the implementation and configuration of remote management of servers running Windows Server 2012.

This module explains how to use Windows PowerShell to manage Windows Server 2012. It will provide an overview of Windows PowerShell and the Windows PowerShell Integrated Scripting Environment (ISE). It will also cover Windows PowerShell in the context of AD DS and general server management.

This module explains how to provide high availability for network services and applications by implementing Failover Clustering. It will provide an overview of the terms and technologies as well as specific considerations and options for the services and applications under discussion.
